Deacon and I went to Georgia this past week to see Scott graduate from Basic Training. Ten weeks down and twelve to go! He is still at Ft. Benning, but now he is in OCS (Officer Candidate School). It was a bitter-sweet trip. We loved seeing Scott and getting hugs and kisses, but it was hard to leave him there and head back to Utah without him. Deacon was so excited to see him, but he was a little shy at first. He wasn't sure what to make of Dad's new bald head!

I made him smile for this one- I don't like the serious soldier face:
Graduation was the next day at the National Infantry Museum Stadium. The band was great and helped keep Deacon entertained:
Deacon waved his flag around and pretended he was conducting the band:

It was a memorable trip and I'm glad we were able to make it. It was stressful flying alone with a two-year-old who is more wild monkey than child, but it was worth it. I have learned a lot about myself these last ten weeks and I'm sure I have a lot more to learn. I have always been an independent person, but it is much different when you also have a little person that depends on you too. There have been moments when I've felt like I was going to lose it, but luckily I have an amazing family and wonderful friends nearby who have been such a great support to me. Thank you to all of you who have been there for us. I feel much more confident going into these last 12 weeks. Our little family has been greatly blessed!
