Big Changes

After many years of thinking, talking, and dreaming about it Scott finally took the leap and joined the Army National Guard! He has been negotiating with different recruiters the past year and a half or so and they finally offered him what he wanted. He will leave for Basic and Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia on May 31st and we won't have him home again until October 26th. That's right folks- five months! He will be a Lieutenant in the 211th Aviation Battalion (attack helicopter) upon arriving home. It's going to be an adjustment to say the least and I'm gearing up and trying to prepare myself to be a single mom for awhile. Scott is excited and is keeping his fingers crossed that he will be accepted into flight school in the near future as well. He has been dreaming of flying Apache helicopters for as long as I've known him! Is that every boys dream? He will continue teaching History at Lehi High School, and when he gets back from Fort Benning he will just have to do his "one weekend a month" and two weeks in the summer. Flight School (if he is accepted) will take almost a year, so I'm trying not to think about that. Lots of new and exciting things are in our future and I am proud of Scott and all he has accomplished and all that he does for our family. He loves our country and as a righteous priesthood holder I'm sure he will do amazing things!

WOW! I have to say I am a big fan of the National Guard! My dad was in for as long as I can remember. What a great thing you both are doing! It is such a sacrifice for families, but thankfully we have great men, and women that will do this for their country. AWESOME!
